Our Practice Philosophy

As a solution-focused clinical psychology practice, our treatment approach is to provide skills and practical feedback to help you address current life challenges or long-standing issues. With compassion and understanding, we help you find resolution for a wide range of personal concerns and psychological difficulties.

We can also provide psychological assessment to investigate possible learning or attention problems, ability, personality type and career planning. Using complementary approaches, such as Mindfulness, Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy, we draw from a variety of evidence-based methods and incorporate what is most helpful for each individual.

In a comfortable and supportive environment, we offer a personalised approach tailored to each client’s individual needs to help overcome psychological and emotional difficulties, prevent relapse and attain the personal growth they may be looking for. Accessing our Services under Medicare

You can access our services without a referral, but you will be ineligible to claim a Medicare benefit for the service. If you have Private health cover, you may be able to claim through your health fund (you will need to check with your health fund)

You may however, be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate for allied mental health services once you have:

  • a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan in place; or
  • a referral by a psychiatrist or paediatrician.

Your GP or psychiatrist/paediatrician can initially refer you for up to six individual allied mental health services. It is at the clinical discretion of your referring practitioner as to the number of allied mental health services you will be referred for (to a maximum of six in any one referral).

Depending on your health care needs, following the initial course of treatment, you may return to your GP or psychiatrist/paediatrician for a Mental Health Treatment Plan review to obtain additional sessions up to a maximum of ten individual and ten group services per calendar year. Whether you have a clinical need to access the additional allied health services which attract a rebate is a decision for your treating health practitioner, taking into account the written report received from the allied mental health professional at the completion of a course of treatment.

It is important to note that the GP Mental Health Treatment Plan will only entitle you to a rebate from Medicare and there will be an out-of-pocket expense. Please see our Fees page
