Clinical Psychologist, EMDR Therapist, Janine Lucas – Company Director
Janine is a skilled clinical psychologist and a board approved supervisor with 29 years of experience working across many mental health care settings.
Janine works with multiple presentations and challenges. She is passionate about client wellbeing and enjoys collaborating with her clients to assist with difficulties and challenges they are facing in order to work towards meaningful change. Janine enjoys working from a strength-based perspective, which is a way of working that focuses on capacity, skills, and ability; to assist individuals improve their relationships, quality of life and work life balance.
Janine also works with people who have experienced trauma, whether the result of a road accident, a workplace injury, the experience of sexual assault, abuse, family violence, or vicarious trauma experienced by emergency service workers. Janine works to assist trauma sufferers in learning to feel safe and at ease again.
Additionally, she enjoys working with and reframing people’s strong, deeply held and often painful beliefs and emotions – the ones that we don’t often talk about, such as guilt, shame, feelings of inadequacy or failure, anger, grief and loss, and self-loathing. Janine also enjoys working with people in their times of transition, whether a change of career, having or not having children, loss, exiting or the end of a relationship, loss of identity, change to sense of self, retirement or wanting to discuss a loved one’s funeral wishes. In navigating these life changes, there can be challenging decisions to make and tough conversations to be had and support from a psychologist can be beneficial at these times.
Janine also works with both adopted and donor conceived individuals and recognizes the lifelong impact these experiences can have upon identity formation, belonging, and genetic health/medical history. These experiences can result in significant grief and loss and are sometimes hard to share and can be difficult for others to understand. Janine helps individuals explore/navigate these experiences with compassion and care.
Janine is trained in a range of evidence-based therapies and will best match therapy according to the individual’s needs and goals for change.
Janine undertakes both face to face and Telehealth appointments and as such can work with people anywhere in Australia.
